A Rival to Cybertruck from Tesla’s Co-founder: Only Half the Price!

The TELO MT1 is drawing attention with features that rival the Cybertruck, at nearly half the price. So, what does this small yet ambitious pickup truck offer?
For years, Tesla has been seen as the symbol of the electric vehicle revolution. The company’s most ambitious model, the Cybertruck, brought with it as much controversy as innovative design. While its futuristic look generated admiration, its high price, production issues, and occasional recalls have damaged the vehicle’s image.
In this very environment, a new startup named TELO, backed by one of Tesla’s co-founders, aims to bring a fresh breath to the electric pickup truck market. The company’s first model, the TELO MT1, stands out with a compact, practical, and city-friendly design, in contrast to the Cybertruck’s massive and angular structure. For this reason, it has already been dubbed the “anti-Cybertruck” in the automotive world.
Small Body, Big Impact

The TELO MT1 stands out with its dimensions suitable for urban use. The four-door, five-seater vehicle offers a wide cargo area, similar to a Toyota Tacoma, with its 60-inch bed, while its total length remains as compact as a MINI Cooper SE. This means it is both highly maneuverable in tight spaces and ambitious in carrying loads.
The vehicle’s performance also exceeds its size. The single-motor version of the TELO MT1 produces 300 horsepower and offers a range of approximately 560 kilometers on a single charge. Thanks to the foldable rear seats, the loading area can be extended up to 2.44 meters. This feature facilitates the transport of long items like bicycles, ski equipment, or camping gear. The TELO MT1’s towing capacity is stated as 2,994 kilograms, and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6 seconds.
According to the information shared by the company, the TELO MT1 will be manufactured in Irvine, California. The base price of the vehicle is set at $41,520, and production is planned to begin in late 2025.
Can the “Anti-Cybertruck” Truly Be an Alternative?
The TELO MT1 presents a clear challenge to the Cybertruck in terms of price. Offered at nearly half the price of Tesla’s $72,235 pickup truck, the TELO promises similar performance despite its more compact dimensions. While the Cybertruck’s range is around 335 miles, the TELO slightly exceeds this figure.
The Cybertruck has a higher towing capacity, but the TELO boasts 5 cm more ground clearance, which provides an advantage in off-road performance. Moreover, the TELO’s bed is longer in terms of bed-to-body ratio than the Cybertruck’s. This symbolizes the TELO philosophy of “achieving more with less.”
Of course, this picture will become clear once the vehicle actually enters production. It remains to be seen whether the TELO MT1, which is currently in the testing phase, will face recall issues like the Cybertruck. However, it is certain that it has already captured the interest of electric pickup truck enthusiasts.
